DIGIPLAY sell FAKE memory sticks that DON'T WORK!

I bought one of these from Digiplay a couple of weeks ago. I spent hours loading it up with mp3 files which kept disappearing. It was like trying to fill a sieve with water. I tried using Sony's data recovery software to bring the files back but after a while my phone, my PC and Sony's software failed even to register the presence of the card. Digiplay were apologetic and sent a replacement after I had forked out for postage to send the faulty one back.

A couple of days ago I got the replacement and had exactly the same problems. I got suspicious so I checked this card and it's packaging against one that I know to be genuine (ironically I bought the genuine one from Digiplay back in February) and there were a number of small differences in the design of the stick, the printing on the stick and the packaging that it came in. In other words it is not a genuine Sony stick. Digiplay are fobbing me off with counterfeit rubbish and I have reported them to Amazon. It is a real insult.

It's not worth trying your luck with this. It costs a few pounds more to buy the real thing directly from Amazon, or from one of the few reputable marketplace stockists, but you'll be glad you did.

The genuine Sony product, if you get one, is superb and very reliable.

Having just purchased a new Sony compact camcorder (DCR-SR range) I wanted to get a case that was not an obvious thief magnet and offered quality affordable protection. With the price difference so little between genuine Sony and independent case manufacturers I decided to go with the genuine article.
I have not had it long but it is well padded with a discrete small pocket, useful for a small battery or filter and the zips and clip seems good quality.
When fully closed the top is very well protected with the sides zipped shut and an additional flap over the top. It would have to be very wet indeed to ingress water into the fully closed case.
The only negative side I found, and this was TOTALLY my fault and no reflection on the product, was when I purchased a wide angle extension lens, it made the case a very tight fit, but I did get one of the physically biggest lenses!
All in all, a great little case.

WOW!! The new Sony TG3 is a fantastic piece of kit and this case is worth every penny, well made and small makes the camera look very classy.

Beware of fakes!

I recently recieved my 4gb sony memory card for christmas,soon to find that it was a cheap fake, not made by sony!. The memory card was of very poor quality and corrupted many of my files when i tried to store around 3gb of music and videos on it. It will now not take any more files, even though it says that there is 1gb of free space remaining!.

If you want a genuine, reliable SONY memory card then i would advise buying from the high street stores or PLAY.COM, as these are guaranteed to be genuine!

Fantastic piece of technology

I simply had to write a review as i was amazed at the person who didnt give this 5 stars. It has a 1gb capacity which may not impress people but when you actually hold this thing in your hand it is incredibly small. A fantastic piece of technology and very under-rated.

Great Value and top performance!

After buying my new SONY digital camera, I needed a memory stick. I went into town and paid £45 for a 256MB memory card only to look on here and see that the 512MB card is cheaper. Major Bummer!! Also, I cannot doubt the performance - compared to others I have tried, TOP performance, TOP speed, TOP QUALITY!

Very Reliable Quality Tapes

I have been using Mini DV tapes from a number of brands since I purchased my camcorder five years ago. I originally brought a 3CCD camcorder for the best quality around at the time so wanted a tape that can playback as well as the camcorder recorded it.

The one consistent tape I can safely say I have settled on for reliability and at a good price is this Sony tape. It is very good value when bundled together and the free head cleaner is a real bonus reminding us of a maintenance task we should all be doing to our camcorders but I bet most (me included) wouldn't go out and buy separately on a regular basis. Playback of recorded video is still crisp and sharp using the Sony tapes, even if my camcorder is looking a bit tired and I still see no reason to upgrade my camcorder yet.

Enormous!!

Having read the reviews, I bought this along with my new Sony DCR-DVD109 camcorder. It is indeed large inside - you could easily fit two of these cameras in the main compartment and still have room for leads, a spare DVD and a spare battery. Then you need to work out what to put in the other handy pockets!

I can't fault the quality but the problem with all this space is its a bit bulky to carry about - I'm not quite ready to carry a man-bag! (My camcorder is the same size as the 106 and 306).

The carry case does not seem to be too spacious especially if you have other accessories to carry for the camcorder.

What can you say about a bit of plastic 1/4 of a post stamp? i did put it in my mobile phone and it does the job. the postage is a bit on the high side for this item but it's worth it. quick delivery and good brand. A+++

this camera i think is a very good camcorder.
first thing its from sony so you know it will be good and then theres a huge 60gb hdd in it.
this is a very good camcorder if you like to record a lot of long videos,but the quality of the video isnt that great.

Pretty good; a little weak for interior work

The must-have feature that clinched the buying decision for me was DV-In so I could record back to tape after editing. Very few budget camcorders have that. I edit using iMovie 2 on an old Mac PowerBook and this model works just fine, both in and out of the Mac's FireWire ports.

Time lapse recording is great; leave the Camcorder on a tripod and it will take one frame every 2 to 120 seconds and produce those time-lapse sequences you see on TV. Very cool.

My gripes are:
(1) the automatic light level setting seems dark to me when filming inside. Any backlighting at all can cause the foreground image to be quite dark. There is a backlighting compensation control, but you often don't realise you needed it until you view the footage later on.
(2) Also in mediocre light, the unit seems to try to refocus occasionally, resulting in sudden moments of fuzziness in the middle of a sequence. Not quite bad enough for me to feel I can claim it is faulty, but nevertheless irritating.

If you have a chance to try before you buy, do your testing indoors under artificial light. That's the weak spot.

Overall I'm pretty happy and am learning to live with and work around the couple of limitations.
