Awesome camera, poor software
This is a brilliant piece of equipment. the Software it comes with though is not very good. So if you want to edit your HD video you will need to buy software that can handle AVCHD, fortunatelly there are some good cheap options out there. But I couldn't find anything free.104

Paid £50 for 8GB 5 year warranty Sony Memory Stick. Even the packaging looks cheap and fake! Fonts on actual memory and adapter are different. No paper work in the pack, you can tell without opening it. Hologram is not shaped correctly (one side wider then another).Do NOT buy!!!

Amazing !
After carefully reading up on all the camcorders available and other customer reviews I opted for this model . . I was'nt disappointed. After ordering it arrived next morning. Straight out the box put the memory card in and did some test shots indoor and outdoor. I then went to my playstaion 3 and played back on my 42 inch Pioneer Plasma and inserted the memory card , pressed play and wow ! Stunning images and sound . Went to my pc and installed the software provided . In a few minutes install completed successfully , transfered the footage into the Sony Motion Browser without problems. I then copied the footage onto dvd in Hd ...minutes later tested the dvd on my Playstation 3.Again Simply stunning !I'm glad I opted not to get the built in hard drive option as I think the memory cards will be a better way to store as transfer seems easy. To Sum up ..No negatives found so far , worth every penny and as usual a faultless service from Amazon.

Decent case plus high capacity battery.
The case is decent, but could be less bulky and still fit my camcorder in without trouble. The high capacity battery is good and a life saver when my low capacity one is done. It does make the camera much heavier though which is why I use the low capacity one by default.112

ive had this camcorder since 2005 and its excellent !!
ive had no problems at all with this sony dvd camcorder , non at all .. i have our dvd camcorder set to long play .. so you get 60 minutes out of the dvd+rw instead of the 30 minutes ..i recommend you buy the camera bag set with the extra battery & dvd+r inside it ..

For the first 2-3 weeks the little DVD case is ok. After that it doesn't last that long as you'll have to buy a new one because it only holds 4 DVDs.
Overall, this will be good for your handycam especially the new spare battery you'll get with it.
I've bought a bigger camcorder bag and DVD case now, though.
So to round up, this is a great kit to buy to start you off but you'll probably end up buying replacements for your camcorder.
My advice is to buy it even though its really over-priced.

My dad owns the Sony DCR-DVD106 and this one has a far better picture and sound! I am very pleased with it, learning which media and what would be the best to record on took a little time to finger out.. I found the functions of the camera pretty straight-forward after i'd had a quick scan through the manual..
The camera comes with a USB cable and software so you can upload your videos to the pc, this is simple and easy to do! I would throughly recommed this camcorder for anyone who wants it for home videos.
Battery life last about an 80 mins, which is plenty for me as I always carry the charger with me and I'm usually near a socket if it needs charging.
A brilliant little camcorder!!

I was very impressed with all the features of this, even with the standard battery I was getting about an hour of recording, the quick on feature didnt drain the battery much and was very useful when you think you might need to film something quickly.
The nightshot actually worked really well, we went out a couple of times and used it and it really picked up the scene.
Overall I have no complaints at all about this camera, bringing it back with over 3 hours of footage and getting this onto DVD to show people was very easy and the included A/V out cable is handy for showing direct on TV.
One final point is that the connection points like the AV and USB are very well made and hidden on the camera behind ingenious slides etc
