Great product

MiniDisc is such a versatile technology it's a real shame that it is being phased out. This SONY deck is excellent, good functionality, easy to use - what more could you want? Highly recommended.

Quality is average, Great for travelling, Better all round alternatives out there

I found that the quality of the sound is average, I certainly can't have them nice and loud through these speakers as it begins to pierce the eardrum. One major advantage of these is that they are great for travelling as they fold up and take up hardly any space. Your phone docks nicely on to them so they look like they belong (not sure about the colour though). However, try the Sony SRS range of speakers, they will plug into the jack from your headphone adapter and although they won't dock they will produce a much better sound (plus there's two speakers so they'll give a more natural"surround" experience). Alternatively, if you already own a decent hifi with decent sound, the I recommend the MPP-60, I've placed a review on for them and would highly recommend them as they are much cheaper.

These speakers are sound!

I like these because you have 3 choices: passive, batteries or mains. It's nice and flexible I think you'll agree.

The sound quality is great for the price. Great for travelling or if you don't want all your gigabytes of music slowing down the computer!

SRA-A201 Review

These speakers are amazing for the money. I was expecting them to be really tinny and bad, but they sound considerably better. I have tried them on my mp3 player and laptop and they sound perfect. The bass is excellent, the stereo is amazing, and the maximum volume is tremendous!

GOOD But....

these are very good. very good sound and brilliant to just pack away. the only thing is that the connector is very weak. had mine only a couple of months and a part of plastic on the connector snaped in my phone. so now i have a peice of plastic stuck in my sony ericsson. if you want to pay a bit extra get the mbs-100 speaker it is bluetooth and just amazing

On a budget but want good sound? Buy 'em

For the money, these are great speakers. I use them as the secondary pair in a 7.1 set up. Good clear sound for vocals and music. Can't vouch for them with regards to handling bass as i only put mid to top end frequencies thru them. I will test them for low frequency sound output and edit my review if one day i've nothing better to do. :)

Fine Little System

I am very pleased with this little system. The sound quality is very impressive, the finish is good, the various features are easy to manage and the display is very clear. The sound stays true up to a reasonable volume but does start to distort when turned up full, but only very slightly. The remote is brilliant and very responsive, which is a big plus as in the past I have found systems of this type to be extremely temperamental in this particular. The cd player and radio features both seem absolutely fine and, although I have not used the tape deck, it gives me a warm happy feeling to know that it's there.

Clunky, but good value

As a budget cassette deck this does the job; the sound it produces is as you would expect from Sony and it records well in either automatic or manual mode.
This, though, is a functional rather than top of the range hi-fi deck: If you want to record on both decks and have a better range of adjustments the next model up ought to be considered.
It does just what I want, and no more - the ability to record from radio, CD or disc and, occassionally, to dub from tape to tape.
My only reasons for not giving 5 stars was because the Dolby switch appears, and feels, rather flimsy (although, it must be said, it works perfectly well), and because of the clunky noise when the tape reverses from one side to the other.

Worth it!

i'm a great fan of music and others love listening to my music. This mini speaker is pretty cool with good sound. i took it out to the pub one night as my local doesn't play very good background music and everyone was amazed by this gadget. You can stand a fair bit away from your phone (8-10metre) as long as no obsticles are in the way it's fine. i am impressed, well done sony. The only downfall.....i wish the battery lasted more than 4 hours.

Sony Boom Box

More details required for this product, unfortunately I was pretty disappointed when I received it as the sound quality was not up to much at all. Ok for your childs first player but no good if you like nice sound quality. No individual bass/treble controls and despite being described as a 'Boom Box' had no depth of sound.

Sony SRS M-30 small portable with OK sound

The great thing about these speakers is that they are very light (only 200gms) and easy to carry. Even the adapter is pretty sleek. The sound is OK. Mid and high frequencies sound very good, but lower frequencies get distorted esp. at high volumes. So if you listen at low and medium volumes and are always on the move, and hate to have headphones always on, these are worth the price.

Killer

these things are great, big and loud, have them running on the sony 910 amp, i would recommend you change the speaker cable. they are real value for money.

Super Sony

I have to disagree with Mr Bearman as I have the same model and consider it to be five star in every sense. I think he must have just been unlucky with his receiver as mine performs effortlessly taking in its stride everything I put through it. I have a Toshiba HD player, blu-ray player and v+ hd cable box connected up to it leaving me with another 3 HDMI inputs should I need them. It also upscales SD very well. With an intuitive GUI menu, full Dolby True HD/DTS-HD Master audio decoding and a host of other goodies I'm not surprised it received the EISA European Best Product award for 2008-2009.

Sony Excel yet again

As always Sony excel with this system! Excellent crisp sound, more than ample power to fill any room. Very modern slimline styling. Plays CD-R's, CD-RW's, MP3 format, all sound great! Shop around and you can pick this neat little system up for a bargain price as i did.

Mini CD systems

Although I have had this some time, it's an excellent quality CD system.
Small and compact, but very easy to use.
Definitely worth having.

Small box, big performance

When I first took out of the box I began to worry about how small and light it was, it just about fits on the window sill in my tiny bedroom looking very sleek and minimalistic with its metallic surrounds and shiny black fascia, but once I powered it up and spun a few discs I realised how wrong I was when my floorboards shook. Simply put, the sound this thing produces is awesome, bass is full and rounded, the midrange is detailed and the treble sweet, but not as present in the mix as I'd like. I then got really greedy, I swapped the budget speakers supplied with the Hi-Fi for my 5 year old Eltax Monitor III's bought for £69.99 from Richer Sounds, slipped Talvin Singh's"Ok" album into the tray and then the real party began - all aspects of the sound tightened up and became more focused, especially the treble response - the system really comes alive when playing audio cds, so much better than my old CD / clock radio setup.

The connectivity of this system is simply amazing, I tried a few mp3 cd's, then I hooked up my Nokia N96 via bluetooth to try the inbuilt music player and internet radio, it worked perfectly every time. I even managed to hook up a couple of bluetooth stereo headphone setups, a Sony Ericsson MBR-100 dongle, with a set of Sennheiser earphones and a Sony Ericsson HBH-DS970 headset, both worked flawlessly, so did the USB port - I played Q-tip's"Renaissance" album coded in mp4 format from a 16GB Memory Stick Micro M2 card and I even managed to fire up my Nokia N96 in"mass storage" mode - in both cases browsing through the media folders and selecting the files to be played using the controls on the Hi-Fi itself. The conventional options were great as well, I listened to a couple of sources with a set of wired headphones connected to the 3.5" stereo jack input and watched the famous Headhunters rhythm section Paul Jackson and Mike Clark rip through some funk examples on youtube with my 1st generation Ipod Touch connected to the"audio in" socket.

Radio fans won't be disappointed either with the hifi's RDS FM / AM tuner - once the extra long antenna was connected it was a joy to use. The tuner locked on to all the major radio stations easily and sounded great, the best tuner I've owned by a long shot.

Now, I've realised that I haven't mentioned anything about the EQ on the system simply because there's a single button labelled"DSGX" Dynamic Sound Generator Xtra on the unit and you can switch it on or off. If you want to get fancy you can adjust the bass or treble on the remote control and that's it folks, no presets, no 10 band graphic, no virtual surround just an excellent EQ with the only two controls I'll ever need to tweak and I haven't even been able to do that because the supplier didn't ship the remote with the Hi-Fi, but I'll be collecting the day after I write this review!

To summarise, if someone told me a few years ago that I could buy a CD tuner micro system that sounded great, and was fully compatible with a wide range of wireless bluetooth stereo transmitter devices such as mobile phones, mp3 players and laptops, and could transmit to bluetooth stereo headphones and other receiving devices. A system that was fully USB compliant and could read MP3, AAC, WMA and ATRAC encoded music files from USB enabled memory sticks, hard drives, MP3 players and mobile phones. A system that played MP3 CD's, looked great, was light, compact and came with a remote control I would have laughed at them but I would fall silent when I looked at the price ranging from £139 to £100, surely the sky has fallen on our heads.

Great little system!

Bought this as I was looking for a quality little stereo to fit on a narrow bookcase. The Stereo is only 26cm deep so sits in small places nicely.

Great sound from a small unit and easy to hook up your MP3 player if you can't be bothered to burn MP3 CD's.
