Atrac can be played if you have walkman only

I had this unit for a month now, and i think it is ok, a bit too expensive but ok.
It gets very very and i mean very how when you play music on medium volume, you can fry eggs easy on the back of this unit, so i had to put a little fan the back of it (helps a bit)
+ remote, easy to use, powerful, usb.
- heat, usb failures sometimes, light on the joystick does not dim(or change colour), too bright at night.

So i think this is a good HU from sony but with the price tag like that it gets too hot and could change screen colour to reb/blue/green and joystick surround.
Would i recommend it to someone ? YES
Would i buy one again ? Same one NO , another YES.

Good in theory

This could be a good product but mine was defective. It didn't charge the phone so the battery goes flat unless you turn off the display light.
I asked Sony if it was meant to charge the phone .They said"Yes" so I sent it back to the service agents , as instructed
4 weeks on and no news when the spare parts will arrive
I should have sent it back to Amazon for replacement/refund instead
I would have expected better from a"quality" brand like Sony Ericsson

sony cd player

Great sound, stunning apperance, but if u dont have the remote controls, forget about using it!

i recently bought a car with this cd player already inside it. and such a nightmare i've had trying to work it! the cd player has 4 buttons: off, function (radio etc) and volume up and down. dont like a track on a cd? tough, u listen to it, because u cannot skip it without the remote. bass too strong? tough, it cannot be altered without the remote. want to change radio station?? forget about it! the search buttons are, suprise suprise on the remote.

and where can u get a remote? off the net! but it will cost you £50-£60!!

despite all this, i decided to buy the remote. because the sound quality from this system is second to none, clear, bassy, typcal good sony standard. plus every person that got into the car commented on how good the CD player looks! which may also be its downside, as thieves may also find it attractive, and its not removeable....

i guess the choice is yours. it really depends on what you want from your CD player. If ur looking a quiet life? maybe give it a miss.

Looks good, sounds good, however....

....interface to ipod is appalling. As noted in a previous review, why on earth did Sony not use the volume control to search through music library? One has to scroll up and down through artists using the +/- buttons and it loads the first song against each artist before moving on. Therefore pressing and holding the + (or -) button does not provide a fast scroll. I wanted to access Muse and it took over 5 mins to get there! Ok, so I could delete A-Ha, Abba, Adam and the Ants, and so on, but the whole point of an ipod is that it holds ALL your music, not just the stuff you are listening to at the moment.

It's amazing!!

I purchaced the sony cdx-mp40 for my old car, it was a fantastic attribute to make long drives more enjoyable, easy to use and great sound quality. Passengers could use the remote to change tune or turn up the volume and it made the whole thing more exciting for my younger family as they thought it was amazing for a car stereo to have a remote! I recommend this CD player to anyone thinking of buying one for their car, the front clicks off and can be stored in your handbag in the case provided to make it a safer option when parked up anywhere. It is made by Sony so you know its going to be a good deal and last a long time.
