poor build quality

ihave used various different sets of headphones for listening to different devices. These have been the best for sound quality, but worst for user frendliness and build quality. I bought my first set around a year ago, a month after buying them, the rubber earpiece ripped, forcing me to use a different size. This then would not stay in my ear as it was the left one and any movement of the cord dislodged the headphone. after two months of putting up with this annoyance, the left earpiece stopped producing sound. amazon kindly replaced them under warranty and the second set appeared to be fine. That is until a couple of months ago, when the left earpiece fell out, unless you were sitting and there was no weight on it. and now it has broken like the last set. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT AS IT IS A WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!!

Dissapointed

These earphones have great sound quality but low volume and terrible durability/life. I look after my eletronic items very well and these lasted a week before they just stopped woking. I never played them at full volume and i only used them a few times. Sony are one of the best electronics companies and have always bought great products from them but I was extremely dissapointed with these earphones and don't recommend them to any one. My advice is to go with the Sony MDR-ED21LP Fontopia earphones, they lasted me a few years and have great sound quality.

How did I live without them?

These earphones are fantastic, excellent quality for just over £15. After my apple earphones failed me miserably after just 3 months, these were a refreshing change and made me wonder how i lived with the terrible apple set for the past few months. I'm no technical wiz, but the bass is wonderful, and i can't hear any outside noise at all. The three sets of earpiecies included are sure to fit everyone, the do for me at anyrate. A fabulous little pair of earphones.

Great earphones, even at twice the price, they'd be a bargain!

This is now my 3rd pair of these headphones I've owned, the first got stepped on, and the second I'd had for about 4 or 5 years and the plastic had started to fatigue and hurt the ears - but they still work despite be thrown in a bag every day.

In between owning these, I've had a variety of earphones from Sennheiser, Creative and others, at up to £40 for most expensive I bought - none of them compare to these earphones - rich sound with deep bass (the kind that can rumble the eardrum), very comfortable, good noise blocking, even length cords, and very durable. I cannot recommend these highly enough!

Great little case

This is a great little case for all Sony Camera owners out there. It's soft enough to protect your delicate camera and yet tough enough to protect it from the elements. It does exactly as it says really. I'm curruntly using it for my Sony Cybershot DSC-W55 and have to say it protects it really well, doesn't leave any scratches or marks on the camera at all. It fastens with a velcro tab and has a small zipped compartment on the front for a spare battery or memory card. Overall, a great product and well worth the money. Much better value than other unofficial camera cases available. Plain, simple and good value for money.

Great bag for the PSP

Initially bought the correct bag for the PSP from Game but returned it at is was poorly made and the size wasn’t Brill...

Then this bag caught my eye as a. it had sony on the front and b. it was a perfect size for the PSP plus all its bits, can’t reccomend this bag enough and the price on Amazon is much cheaper than I paid, even more of a bargain...

good for the price

i have to say for £10 these are the good headphones i use tham on my computer and they work well. So if your looking for a alright pare of headphones at a low price these are the ones you should get. Thats it

Great - but fail after a year

I've had at least three of these now (bought two, got one replaced under warantee because they broke within a year). While I like the design (really comfortable to wear - can almost forget they're there), and the sound quality and volume is good, it's just getting annoying that they keep breaking.
I'm going to try a different brand.

Bleh

Bad points:
- Begin to press uncomfortably on the ears after a less than hour of use;
- Frequency response is disastrously spikey in the low end - music needs several bass and low-mid frequencies EQ'd out in order to be listenable;
- Has cables coming from both earpieces instead of just one.

Good points:
- Isolation is ok.

I've used far better headphones in this price range. Stay away!

Sony Mini/Lightweight Headphones

VERY good value for money. Simple piece of kit, comfortable with decent sound reproduction. Works very well with my Philips portable DVD player.

Great design, average quality.

Having used these headphones for only a few minutes I found the sound quality not as good as other Sony headphones which is disappointing considering the price of them.
My previous headphones were the Sony MDR-EX32 which are far superior and less than half the price, (I may go back to using these).
One other thing I have noticed is that the volume I get from my Sony NW-E005 MP3 player is higher using these headphones compared to my previous ones. I understand that european regulation limits the upper volume level on MP3 players sold in the UK.
I would also recommend the Sennheiser MX 55 headphones, not as bassy as the MDR-EX32 but better overall than the MDR-EX90LP.

Bring The Noise !

1. Generally, these headphones are very well made, attractive design, the usual Sony quality.

2. The cable is quite short if you intend to use these with a home hi-fi. Looks like you get about a metre - which is fine for travelling or a portable device, I guess.

3. The noise cancelling works. In an office environment, it completely blocks out the background rumble of the air conditioning. Flick the switch, and about a second later there is silence. Doesn't work on fast changing noise though - colleagues chattering etc.

4. No battery included in the retail packaging: needs a single AAA 1.5V. You do get an adapter for use on aircraft though (double 3.5mm jack plug).

5. If I had paid High Street retail (£50) I'd be a little disappointed. But for £35 delivered, they represent pretty good value.

6. Sound quality is perfectly acceptable. I'm no audiophile, but the overall experience is good.

7. Overall: recommended.

Audiophile

As an Audiophile I search for things to juice out as much perfomance out of a product. These headphones for sound are weak. They sound like someone who has a cold. The only good points are the design, quality of the build and comftable. I recomend you buy the Skullcandy Smokin Buds. At a fair price these can perform 45% better than the Sony headphones.

Excellent balance between price and performance!

I am a bit of an audiophile, and sound quality is important to me, as is style, performance, and of course price. These phones manage to brilliantly balance all of these factors, in a stylish design.

The sound quality is wonderfuly open, balanced, detailed and clear. Used with my iPod touch with equalizer set to 'Flat' the bass is perfect in a product like this, ie detailed and not too thick and deep, and the treble is open and sweet!

The noise reduction is very effective, though not as good as say the Bose QC3's, which I have owned. There is a noticeable hiss (significantly more than with the Bose phones) but it is the case that you would only turn on the circuitry in a noisy environment, when the hiss 'effect' seems to dissappear, and you truly benefit from significant reduction in low level ambient and annoying noise. You would hear some hiss in a quiet environment (which you hardly do with the Bose phones) but in this circumstance you can just turn of the noise cancelling, and they operate as a normal pair of good quality headphones (which the Bose phones don't).

So, if you want top notch noise reduction but thick and woolly bass reproduction (and don't mind paying over £300 pounds!!) go for the Bose QC3's. But, if you want top quality sound, smart design, portability, along with very good noise reduction (when used in appropriate situations), and want all of this for about £60 pounds only, definitely get the Sony's!!

A perfect balance of all factors in my view. Highly recommended!!

hmm....I have mixed opinions on this Item...

Before i bought these headphones for my ipod, i had been switching through many different types of headphones, of all which broke within a few months (sometimes even weeks). However, this was what i had expected because all of those headphones were not particularily expensive.

After i purchased these headphones, i had extremely high expectations for the durablity, hoping that the £20.00 i had invested would not go to waste. And I have to admit, i was ecstatic. The sounds quality of these headphones are excellent, and they really drown out all sound besides the music. The 3 sizes of different ear-buds provided, ensure comfort for all ears (haha, that should be an advert slogan xD)...and just generally, the headphones are actually quite aesthetically pleasing.

Despite my great effort to keep these headphones in the best conditions possible, these headphones lasted for only 5 months before the left headphone stopped working altogether. Although this pair lasted a lot longer than any others I had, i was still expecting it to last for at least another month or two.

So, on the whole, although the quality of these headphones were excellent, the durability really disappointed me, so from me the item gets 3/5

Amazing headphones that take a while to get used to.

I've had these for about 3 years now, and despite having paid about 100 pounds for them at that point, they have been an amazing investment. I use these headphones mostly for listening to music, and occasional monitoring. The quality of the sound is exceptional, let alone considering the price/performance ration, with a frequency response down to 5hz, you have amazing bass pretty much all the way down the scale.

Some have complained that the headphones give you headaches and are uncomfortable for prolonged periods of time. When I first got them, this was the case. Anything over 30 minutes would result in pretty bad head pain, but this is all a matter of breaking the headphones in and getting used to it. I now have no objections to wearing them hours at a time, at least in my case, it was all about getting used to them. nevertheless they aren't the pinnacle of comfort.

The build quality is pretty damn impressive, after having been tossed around for three years and taken a pretty solid beating they still work as well as they did on day one.

Excellent for mixing

I bought these yesterday in for almost twice the price in hmv, big mistake after looking at the price on here. so i tried using them with my ipod and to be honest they sounded quite tiny and i was quite disapointed. but then i plugged them into my mixer to b used with my turntable and they soun ded great, very warm with a good range. so i wouldnt recomend these with a cd player or ipod/mp3 but i strongly recomend using them with some kind of amp. great cans!
