Good for background bad for brats!

I've no base for comparison but this is a very good product. I do sony products because of their build, innovative ideas, performance and quality, this product is no exception. It was always going to be sony but I duly read up on them anyway and compared them to rivals brands just in case.

First time I tried them I couldn't believe it, all that background low frequency racket you get in a public place, a telly on through the house etc it practically eliminated, the exception being higher pitch and people speaking to you - i.e. this product is not a solution to the other half nagging at you!

I'm using them through my K810 sony ericsson, sound is far from shabby, I'd say better than the conventional rubber earphones found on sony walkman phones. Best thing is that you won't need to destroy the old ears by cranking up the volume to overcome surrounding noise.

My one gripe - and it's one which even sony won't be able to engineer a solution to - is that when on a plane and there's a brat making a squealing noise (which in my opinion is the worst kind) they won't be able to counteract it, you've been warned. In a nutshell top technology, impressive, no regrets.

Great design, average quality.

Having used these headphones for only a few minutes I found the sound quality not as good as other Sony headphones which is disappointing considering the price of them.
My previous headphones were the Sony MDR-EX32 which are far superior and less than half the price, (I may go back to using these).
One other thing I have noticed is that the volume I get from my Sony NW-E005 MP3 player is higher using these headphones compared to my previous ones. I understand that european regulation limits the upper volume level on MP3 players sold in the UK.
I would also recommend the Sennheiser MX 55 headphones, not as bassy as the MDR-EX32 but better overall than the MDR-EX90LP.

When buying this item consider -"Do I really need wireless headphones ?"

For the price range however the wireless headphones are perfect but it is a lot of money, but a very reasonable price for the quality.
The headphones are very light weight, but are not very adjustable. I have many issues with the headband slipping from my head during use. The range however is the wow factor in this device. I could easily make 130 meters before interruption.

The sound quality is reasonable. The volume control certainly allows for"loud" music, however expect very limited bass replication.

All in all I am very happy with the product, easy to recharge and use, but not the best for comfort.

Excellent

These are the first of this type i have used (in-ear) and i am very pleased. They are light and (for me at least) fit in the ear well.
At last i can listen to the ipod while going off to sleep and rest my head on the pillow without having my ear squashed by the 'outside ear' sort of headphone.
They do leave my ears rather hot inside but really that has only been noticeable 'after' i have taken them out and the cooler air touches the skin.

Very good, but little difference in of this MDR range headphones

I'm a DJ and personally don't go for the fancy expensive can's that big names throw out. I previously owned the V200 which had started to get a bit crackly on the Hi-Hat's and bass, so I wanted an upgrade and went for these seeming as they're next in line.

Truth be hold in my eyes (or ears, should I say...) their is very little difference between these and even the V200 or V500 (both of which cost more or less!). The build quality is the same; OK but over time becomes creaky and fragile. The sound quality is very much similar, perhaps a little more bass performance in these than the V200. Apart from it's nice silver finish, little more can be said, except Sony could be charging you an extra tenner for the delight of a screw-on Long Headphone Jack (Rather than the previous plug in) and for the fact that this Headphone Jack is Gold Plated rather than Silver, for the old propaganda story of it conducting more electricity, though fore it"must" produce better sound... (Though again, I have grave doubts about whether such a thing is important when bass is thumping away in a DJ booth).

My next pair of can will be a different make. As much as I like these headphones, and the overall value, I'm sure their a better makes out their which can produce longer lasting drive units. I only got a few months out of my last pair before they started to crackle badly, which suggests though these are supposed to be"DJ" headphones, they just can't withstand the real situation. After plenty of research, it is my opinion that most companies are as bad as each other, and the only way to find the"perfect" headphones is by word of mouth. I'm not forking out for these babies ever couple of months!

Do the job but DISGUSTINGLY OVERPRICED

You can buy these on the high street for £5 but, as other reviewers state, you will only use one of the sizes (small, medium or large). Why do Sony not offer three pairs of buds in a single size instead of one pair in each size?

Because they make more money doing it this way. Simple as that. And absolutely disgusting, considering how cheap they must be to make. The only plus side is that even at £6-£8, buying these is cheaper than buying new headphones but when my current 'phones wear out I'm not replacing them with Sony...

If anyone has a pair of mediums they don't need, I'll happily swap for a pair of small or large!

Excellent tapes and a free bag

I have already reviewed the tapes elsewhere on this site but I do think it is worth mentioning that the free carry case is a small black pouch type bag capable of holding four Mini-DV tapes. Still a worthwhile freebie to an already excellent product.

Excellent for mixing

I bought these yesterday in for almost twice the price in hmv, big mistake after looking at the price on here. so i tried using them with my ipod and to be honest they sounded quite tiny and i was quite disapointed. but then i plugged them into my mixer to b used with my turntable and they soun ded great, very warm with a good range. so i wouldnt recomend these with a cd player or ipod/mp3 but i strongly recomend using them with some kind of amp. great cans!

Durable

[..]There are possibly the toughest headphones created by mankind. The sound quality is still good, but not perfect. I bought them when they were new stuff, so they cost me £[..], and i would happily pay that much again for them, so any cheaper is a super bargain.

Old stock

if you look at the picture of the battery it says 05W08 which I think means week 8 of 2005. Mine said 05w18 and it is as bad as the one I am replacing that came with the phone which was a 2006 battery.

I barely get 24 hours on standby with the settings down low.

False Advertising

The case displayed in the advertisment is not the case that was dispatched. In fact it was nothing like it. The picture displayed a black leather looking case and i received a black cloth case with blue piping.

The case dispatched has the correct product code but is not representative of the item listed for sale.

sony mdr v700 headphones

the treble on these headphones is excellent.the bass was left at the manufacturers which is surprising as these headphones are of ported design.
good headphones rely on the fact that bass and treble enhancement is not needed (ie dials can be left set at position '0').you will have to crank the bass up mighty high with these headphones.
also,when wearing these headphones for just a couple of minutes you will feel like your head is in a vice.your outer ear being squashed onto your head by the leathery ear pads.you will want to take these headphones off....forever.
these headphones are nothing compared to my technics rp f400 headphones.

Great build and punchy mid sound

The first thing you will notice about these headphones is the superb build quality. The earphone housing and headband are made of strong but lightweight metal; the sliders on the adjustable headband are easy to position and stay in their grooves. Straight out of the box, the headphones look excellent, right down to the rubberised headband covering with the brand name printed on it.

On to the sound quality, I have read people criticise the lack of a booming bass component to the sound from this product. While I would agree that the bass is not the collosal earth-shaker that fans of happy hardcore would demand, this conversely means that the sound remains balanced and well-suited to a variety of musics, from Burzum to Korn to Autechre. Moreover, the punchy mid to the sound helps mask any shortcomings in the bass and means that the sound takes on a very warm, full-bodied quality.

The one downside to this product is the cable. Whilst extremely strong, the coiled lead can sometimes drag quite a bit, meaning that your head can get pulled to one side when the cord is stretched. The headphones are best used, therefore, in relatively close proximity to the music source.

At around £35, these headphones are great value for money. Durable, stylish and with a neatly balanced sound, they are good for anyone wanting to travel with their headphones.

Very good and comfortable

Got these a week ago, they fit in the ear nicely and give a very good sound and at £25 they're worth every penny. Don't know what the previus reviewer is on about. Also about the cable thing, do you really need instructions?

Noise generating earphones

I am not a bass fanatic, but the bass from these was weedy, even for me. The noise cancelling feature does absolutely nothing, as far as I can hear, apart from adding some background hiss. I suspect that the efficiency of these earphones probably depends mostly on how well they fit in your ear. I just about get the smallest size in and I wouldn't say they were comfortable. I've had a better listening experienced from headphones costing much less, and I haven't got any (apart from these), that cost more than ten quid.

Just bought my second pair

When it comes to headphones I'm really fussy, I can't stand the ones that go in your ear so I have tried several alternatives. For me these are the comfiest headphones I've ever owned, hence why I'm replacing my old ones with the same ones.

I go on 2 hour runs wearing these and have never had any problems and whilst I'm no acoustic expert my MP3's always sound excellent. I would recommend these headphones to anyone.
