Review for Sony D-NE511 Silver ATRAC/MP3 CD Walkman:
DNE511 good value.......but a few weak points.
I'd have to say....this is one of my favourite Portable CD players I have owned. The sound quality is crisp and clear, while the portablility is descent as well. It is however a dedicated portable CD player......meaning no line out for those who would like to make it their mini Hi-Fi and connect their speakers. Okay, yes, you can connect the them via the headphone socket, but the max volume output is soo rediculously low you might as well just stick in earphones. As for the functions.....the Jog Dial is aalright but can be very annoying when keeping it in your jacket at school whilst listening to a track in class, and when you need to turn it off or switch the tracks you realize the jog-dial menu is up. But, that is very unlikely to happen. All In All, for the price it is a good quality piece of kit that will have your ears praising from the good sound quality.3
Review for Sony XDRS55DABB Light & Compact DAB Portable Radio:
However as a regular daily runner runner without using the mains lead it could however become more expensive than living under a labour government.
Whilst many reviews have quite rightly mentioned the battery life this is in keeping with all DAB products that I have owned and to be fair is more of a technology issue than a"design flaw" in this product, neither Roberts or Pure offer any better battery life from experience in both brands.
This unit will run for approx 8 hours on decent Duracell's. Sound is louder than most simliarly priced radio's offering decent clarity for all music types.
I would thoroughly recommmend this product and at the price and being by Sony you are sure that it will last for a few years, fingers crossed.

Wonderful product for the price
Slim, sleek and portable, ideal for beach journeys, picnics or taking on hols. Also has normal FM in case DAB reception is particularly poor or you're abroad in a non DAB supported country. However as a regular daily runner runner without using the mains lead it could however become more expensive than living under a labour government.

Review for Sony ICFC218S Clock Radio:
The display isn't the brightest and the controls are scattered all round the place with little logic. Some of the switches are rather hit and miss.
It's cheap but you take pot luck with the build quality.

Buzzzzzzz and that's just the power supply
As an alarm clock it's basic. Buying something this cheap seems to mean that the radio is fiddly to tune and sound quality is 1970s telephone. Yes, it's cheap, but Sony's much vaunted build quality is definitely slipping. The first one we got had a very definite mains hum from the power supply. The second one was better but still audible and annoying. The third one was ok - but I was annoyed at having to exchange two before getting one that was satisfactory. The display isn't the brightest and the controls are scattered all round the place with little logic. Some of the switches are rather hit and miss.
It's cheap but you take pot luck with the build quality.

Works fine as a clock radio and alarm clock. Only problem is the alarm stays on every day unless you turn it off - which I always forget to do.. so the alarm wakes me every Saturday morning. Very annoying when you really want to sleep in!7

A great little unit
A great little unit comes with a remote controller which is not always mentioned but very useful. Controls are well placed and easy to use. I could have wished for a slightly better tone but mega bass is available which makes a lot of difference. I really congratulate Sony for using re-cyled cardboard packing instead of that ghastly plastic foam which gets everywhere these days. Just missed giving it 5 stars because the price is just a tad high for the speaker quality which one gets.10

Reception is good. Tuning stability is good. Volume is good.
What more can I say? I leave it tuned to Radio 4 when I'm in my workshop and I know it'll most likely still be working 20 years from now. I have a Sony Alarm Clock Radio dating from 1977 that's still going strong!

Review for Sony ICF-SW12S Compact World Band Travel Radio:
What I really liked is that everything is manual, no annoying electronic features that take you 4 hours reading the manual. The sound quality is also very good for such a small device and certainly sufficent for world service, though probably not for someone who really wants to focus on music. I bought this for a studying holiday in Rome and it really served its purpose of allowing me to listen to the local radio and foreign stations, it now travels with me everywhere. The only negative point I can think of is that the noise of the alarm is very irritating but then perhaps its supposed to be.

Review for Sony ICF-SW12S Compact World Band Travel Radio:
Just what I was looking for
As I travel a lot and like to listen to world service I was looking for a small portable radio, with a built in alarm clock but which also received short wave. Thats easier said than done as radios seem to have gone out of fashion and everyone seems to sell gadgets with too many features. This radio fitted my requirements perfectly, its lightweight, tiny, folds in 2 so is more resistant to falling on the floor, has a little snooze light so you can check the time in the dark and gets excellent short wave reception. You don't even have to change the time as you tell it the time zone and the time adujsts automatically. What I really liked is that everything is manual, no annoying electronic features that take you 4 hours reading the manual. The sound quality is also very good for such a small device and certainly sufficent for world service, though probably not for someone who really wants to focus on music. Review for Sony XDRC705DAB Clock Radio:
Great alarm - but has a mind of it's own!
This alarm looks great and sounds very good. Having had the same Sony Dream Machine FM alarm clock for 11 years, I decided to upgrade to DAB a few months ago. The problem is, it goes off randomly at midnight. There is no detectable pattern - it goes off whether you've used the sleep function, got one or three alarms set... the connection appears to be DAB. Sony 'customer care' at first denied that there was a fault - then advised me not to use the DAB and to only use the buzzer alarm (handy that). Don't buy it - especially if you work early mornings like me. You'll end up being very tired.13
Review for Sony CFD-E100LS CD Radio Cassette:
The build quality is perfectly good for the money and the range of features fit for purpose. The sound quality is reasonable, if a bit top-heavy and lacking in subtlety. Both CD and cassette playback are OK. The FM tuner is OK, but locally Radio Three is a little weak and it can't receive in stereo without high levels of background noise. It is nice to note that it retains Long Wave, something vanishing from cheaper models of this type.
So why only three stars? It does everything well enough except the one thing it is sold on - space. The player is certainly smaller than many other similar players. But the AC/Mains lead supplied sticks out of the back and is so large it needs an extra 8-10 cm of space on a shelf, thus ruining the units compactness. If the lead had come out of one end it would have been capable of going into narrower spaces.
So overall, for the money it is reasonable value and providing you don't listen too closely, it makes a happy sound. But allow some space wherever you put it.

For Small But Not Narrow Spaces
This player was bought for the kitchen, so sound quality - within reason - was not a priority. It is sold as a compact model, so as compactness was an issue it was chosen. The build quality is perfectly good for the money and the range of features fit for purpose. Rediculously cute!!!
My friend recently bought the Sony MzE310s minidisc player and was thoroughly pleased with it, this has I'm affraid got me into minidisc fever and I can really see the advantages. The minidisc player works smoothly from the start no problems there really are no down sides to this product except maybe the lack of an in-line remote. I whole heartedly endorse this product.15

Review for Sony ICF-CD855L CD Clock Radio:
The Dream Machine is compact and elegant, freeing up space on the bedside table. I found the controls intuitive and quickly learnt how to set the alarms (you can programme two alarms and set one or both to go off - useful if you have real trouble waking up!). The CD player and radio both work well. As you would expect with a machine this size, the tonal range of the speakers isn't all it could be. The sound quality and clarity is very good though - as you'd expect from Sony - and the machine looks and feels well-made.
Features I particularly like are:
-The nap and sleep settings. You can programme the machine to let you nap for a short period and then wake you up, or to play more and more quietly as you go to sleep, eventually turning itself off. As I tend to fall asleep to talk radio only to jolt awake when the news comes on, this has been a blessing!
-The CD playback options - my last CD player didn't give me the option to be able to chose between shuffle play, shuffle pereat, repeat one and repeat all.
Things that could be better are:
-The audio options: the speakers are very good for what they are, but it would be nice to have vocal, pop, rock, classical, etc settings so that the balance can be adjusted according to what you're listening to.
-A small niggle, but you don't get to choose whether your clock is 12 or 24 hour - they come pre-programmed with one or other setting depending on the model. Being hopelessly disorganised, I prefer the non-ambiguity of the 24 hour clock to the 12 hour clock that I got.
All in all I recommend the Sony Dream Machine as practical, good quality and (shallow thing that I am) rather stylish. I'd definitely consider replacing it with a similar model if and when I need to.

Solid, reliable and does excatly what it says on the tin
Before I got the Dream Machine I had an old hi-fi on which the radio didn't work, a borrowed DEVO radio and a mobile phone as an alarm clock. I decided it was time to consolidate and picked this Sony machine. I haven't been disappointed. The Dream Machine is compact and elegant, freeing up space on the bedside table. Good looks, bad sound
One of the best looking DAB radios on the market. However, sounds tinny and lacks bass. On closer inspection the wood veneer looks a bit like plastic, although this may be lacquering. Overall a good looker but not for audiophiles.19

Sony Good Job
Something I was looking for. It have all the features one can wish for from a 100£ small boom box. USB feature is the best one as I just have 22 different albums in it and still tons of space left in 2GB sony usb memory device. It plays it on and on with you need to interfere. Good sound quality.bad points

BRILLIANT
Last year for Christmas i got a sony ericsson K750i and the headphones were alright at first but after the first couple of months they were terrible and i had to get new ones. I found these on Amazon and they work really well and they give a much better sound than my original ones, I couldn't ask for better headphones especially at the price. they're really good though because you get 3 different ear pieces to fit over them so they won't fall out. I really recommend them.
