Nice size shame it never worked

I spent literally hours looking for a good value mp3 player and decided to go for this. Wish I hadn't now. Even though it looked as though everything had been uploaded onto the player correctly - I got constant file errors and even when re-setting and following the pretty poor"trouble-shooting" material it still wasn't working. As for the radio - it never managed to play at all. I've sent it back to amazon and am looking forward to my refund as I don't want to risk another one of these for the same to happen again.

Absolutley awesome

U upgraded from a Zen microphoto, to this amazing mp3. It's got everything: Music, Photos and Videos. music can be played back while watching photos, which can br viewed portrait, horizontal(left), or horizontal(right).It's thin, has a good feel in your hand, it feels really strong. The supplied headphones are amazing, clear sound and some reduction. It evens looks nice, compared to the new nano, which looks's like a biscuit it's streets ahead.It's light and the metal surround gives it a secure feeling. Sobicstage isnt great, but i found is quicker tahn itunes to import a cd. IT can be a pain when updating track info, but it's generally better then windows media player. Image converter 3 is good, but takes a rather long time, but its not that slow. ALthough there aren'r many RSS feeds, and it doesn't have podcasts like apple. I think its much nicer than a nano. It's got a time machine search, and a artist search, both of which are great. My friend, a life long ipod fan said he'd rather have one of these than a new ipod nano/ biscuit. All in all its amazing, and in constant use it'll lasta darnsight longer than an ipod...

Great Little Player, Just Install The Most Up To Date Firmware & SonicStage

I got this as a bargain online and read the reviews after I clicked on"Confirm Order". (Never a good idea to do that!).

People were reporting the nightmares of using Connect/SonicStage software, and I was convinced I'd regret my purchase. However someone recommending installing the Firmware 3.0 and SonicStage 4.2 from the Sony site..and the software transferred files no problem. (Think this applies to NWA1000 and NWA3000 too?).

In fact I have no moans about it at all seeing as I found a volume hack for it online! Even with AVLS off the volume was still kinda weedy, but the hack makes the player just about Perfect.

Not a copy and paste

Not great, difficult to get music on to it. Have to use transfer software supplied. it is only 512k and holds about 5 albums. Not ideal.

Top CD player

I had a few problems with the Sonic Stage software when I first tried to create ATRAC Cd's but if you use the file convert function before trying to write to the CD you'll not have any problems.

The sound quality is exceptional, exactly what you would expect from a Sony system.

If you want a CD player that will play MP£, ATRAC and WMA files as well as normal CD's then buy this player.

Superb

People moaning about the software not working properly. like review below, THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG WITH YOUR COMPUTER THEN! The old version of software did have slight glitch, but you can download new version of software anyway. The player itself is a superb product. light, very reliable, great design and easy to use. Its battery life, is awesome, you can all keep your ipod's as far as i am concerned. I want a product that can last more than a few hours of being switched on. This is an excellent product. WELL DONE SONY!

Sony Walkman.

Was disappointed with the original packaging of the Walkman, it looked extremely old and tatty.Walkman inside was obviously new. Apart from this the service was excellent.

Very Sexy

I had a Zen before I bought the Sony Walkman. My zen was VERY small and I loved how easy it was to upload songs etc...I am finding there is a bit of a learning curve for me with the Sony Walkman and uploading music. My only real complaint is being near a light source while trying to see your screen is a pain! The front of it is very shiny pink, I could use it for a mirror! So it reflects any and all light. If outside I have to find shade and cover it with my hand to see what is on my screen, lol. The battery life does seem to go on FOREVER! I am very happy with my Walkman, hate the"trendy look at me" hype with the i-pod. I would recommend it!

CD player excellent, Ipod docking cradle works well, Tuner fine but probably needs a better VHF aerial, Speakers: good size, quality and sound. Overall quality of system 5 stars, first class

Comparison between i pod 3 Generation

I have just bought the SONY NW-S705 2 Gb player. It was a difficult choice, since the more widely bought i pod nano was almost the same cost & probably more appealing.

Reading the various reviews online did allow me to give the SONY a chance, especially since it's superior sound quality got it extra points. I also had the opportunity to hear my friend's Latest i pod (& there were no reviews for the new October 2007 3rd Generation version.

As expected, the sound of the SONY is far better, especially in relation to the Bass. The treble qualities are much the same in both. The noise cancellation properties are more pronounced in noisier surrounding, than in routine use (eg the gym). Also, the SONY offers features like virtual surround sound like Live, arena, etc which is a plus point.

As mentioned by various reviewers previously is the Sonic stage software - which is the one biggest drawback of this superb music system. I am not sure why such an advanced sound giant like SONY sticks to such an inconvenient software, instead of copy & paste or drag & drop functionality. Hence, information on album cover, etc all have to be entered manually.

Overall, I think that the product is good value for money, in spite of a few glitches.
